Eucharistic Ministries
The Eucharistic Ministers assist in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. They attend training and are commissioned. Please prayerfully consider your calling in this important ministry.
Hospitality
St. Joseph Hospitality Ministers provide an atmosphere of "radical" welcome to all who enter the doors of St. Joseph Church. Duties include joyfully greeting, ushering, serving as an "information booth," and helping spread the word about upcoming parish events. Teams are scheduled for each weekend Mass.
Lectors & Readers
Lectors proclaim the First and Second Readings during the Liturgy of the Word. Two lectors are scheduled for each weekend Mass.
Sacristans
Sacristans arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to each weekend Mass to ensure that all ministries are properly filled. If there appears to be a shortage for any scheduled ministry, the sacristan will extend personal invitations to other qualified ministers who are not scheduled for the Mass, but are present in the church for Mass.
Music Ministry
The Music Ministry Team serves as a vibrant and essential part of our church community, leading the congregation in worship through song. The team models worship, not as a performance, but as a ministry—serving God and the church with humility, excellence, and a spirit of collaboration.
We warmly invite: • Cantors: lead the assembly in song at mass. Song leaders need: a working knowledge of music and the structure of the mass, confidence to invite others to sing at appropriate time, ability to learn new music, a reverent spirit, and flexibility to adapt to different situations and timings that occur during mass. • Accompanists: responsible for providing all background music for hymns, songs, and mass music. Primary accompanists must be able to: play music chosen for mass, learn new music, possess a spirit of reverence, know the structure of the mass, and be flexible to adapt to situations and timings that occur during the mass. • Support Singers & Instrumentalists: assist cantor in leading the assembly in song at mass. Auxiliary singers do not need to raise hands in invitation but sing the part of the assembly. Auxiliary singers need: a working knowledge of music and the structure of the mass, ability to learn new music, a reverent spirit, and flexibility to adapt to different situations and timing that occur during mass.
Whether you are an experienced musician or simply passionate about worship, your gifts are welcome. We value a teachable spirit, a servant’s heart, and a willingness to participate in the ministry’s normal aspects Invitation: If you feel called to serve through music, we invite you to join our Music Ministry Team! Please reach out to express your interest and let us know your musical background or preferred role (cantor, accompanist, singer, or instrumentalist).
